april is a busy month. another show that i was invite to take part in is the it came from skullbrain show at super7 in san francisco. the list of artists involved is way too long to mention. it’s in the ballpark of 50 artists, with many artists submitting more than one piece. i’m shooting for three pieces but we’ll see what happens. i’ll post toy pics when i have them but in the meantime here’s an unofficial flyer

I was invited to participate in a toy show at myplasticheart next month. The theme is the Chinese zodiac, with each artist giving his interpretation of one the animals in the zodiac. I won’t reveal which animal I picked, but I’ll be posting teasers pictures in the next few weeks.
It’s an all star artist lineup and should be a great show. Check it out if you’re the area

i’ve been messing around with kaiju for a while now, but i’ve always kind of put my spin on it. generally i’ll make some kind of modification to the figure, adding clothing, removing limbs, altering the base figure in some way. this isn’t the way that kaiju is usually customized. so i decided i’d try my hand at some more traditional kaiju customs.
and thus the mutant army was born. i see them as an army of mutants, battling humans for supremacy of earth. after years of hiding in the shadows, they decided to come out and face us, and take what they felt was theirs. so far i’ve only made 3 recruits, but i have a fourth in the works. as i get my hands on more figures the army will grow
so i’ve had a mild obsession with audrey 2, the plant monster from the little shop of horrors. she’s shown up several times in my work, and as she evolves, i only want to make more of her.
her first appearance was as a 3inch dunny, which was actually the third custom to i ever made. i was very happy with her, and there was brief, very brief, talk of having her made into a production piece. i held onto her forever but just recently sold her off to a collector.
the second form was as a mini munny for the kidrobot mini munny contest. she won me $500 in kidrobot bucks, and then a collector offered her a new home.
her third appearance was for a monster themed show at gallery1988. this is probably my favorite version of her to date. this on was purchased at the show. i used an 8 inch dunny, making this the largest version of her so far
her fourth and most recent appearance is again as a 3 inch dunny. in the almost 4 years since i made the first version, i’ve learned a lot, and have improved as a sculptor. so even those this version is small, i was able to pack a lot of detail into it.
a fifth version is in the works, this time as an 8 inch munny. it will be for an upcoming munny show/contest at shoparooni in ohio. I’ll post pics once she’s completed. my ultimate goal is to make an audrey out of either a 20 inch dunny, or a mega munny. hopefully i’ll be able to do so soon. until then i’ll just keep fine tuning the smaller versions
new site again. this one is more accessible by iphone so i’ll be able to update with pics, which means i’ll be updating more often. so please make whatever adjustments you need to so you can keep up with me. i’ll be posting new stuff momentarily, i just need to get a few more things set up.
